The transformational lecture series is coming to Vancouver. Speaker Paul Hawken speaks to inspire those designing the built to embrace sustainability for today and to ensure we do everything possible to ensure sustainable design become integral to all development in the future.  A PDF for the lecture series can be found here. The ASHRAE Tradeshow is on February 7 in Victoria. The official tradeshow announcement can be found HERE.  This event occurs once every 2 years, so don't miss it!

The October meeting report has been completed by Ed Chessor and is available here for download.  This report provides a good overview of the new Viaduct Sheet Metal plant near Cloverdale.

A new category has been added to the menu bar on the left, 'Donors'.  This section lists companys that have invested in ASHRAE Research this year.  As companies donate the list will be updated.

The 2010 Olympics are fast approaching and tonights meeting will be held at the UBC Winter Sports Center, which is an Olympic venue.  The dinner will be at 6:00PM tonight at the Graduate Student Center followed by the tour.  A map to the GSC can be found here.

The 2007 Symposium on Construct Standards and Inspections has been announced by the COCTA and the brochure can be found HERE.   The cost is $65 and that includes breakfast and lunch and is worth 6 AIBC credits.

Membership Promotion Night is Wednesday, February 7, 2007 

The February dinner meeting is Membership Promotion Night! In it we take the opportunity for chapter members to bring guests to check out the dinner meeting. Apart from all of the great benefits of being a member, there are also some special happenings:

  • There’s a draw for chapter members bringing  guests and you get one draw ticket for every guest that you bring!
  • Guests, bring a completed application form and dinner is on us!  Not only that, the first year of the Chapter membership is free! ($88 value)

Are you looking to become a more effectice player on the GREEN TEAM?  ASHRAE GreenGuide: The Design, Construction and Operation of Sustainable Buildings will help teach designers how to participate effectively on design teams charged with producing green buildings. The GreenGuide is available here.  Another great resource for tips on sustainable design and ASHRAE's roadmap to sustainability is www.engineeringforsustainability.org.

Our next chapter event is the lunch meeting with ASHRAE President Terry Townsend on December 6th. Terry will be discussing 'The ASHRAE Promise: A Sustainable Future'.  The meeting notice can be found here, this will be a great event and it is being held downtown.

The next chapter dinner meeting is November 15.  The topic is 'HVAC Design for High Humidity Environments'.  This meeting is also Membership Promotion Night and you are encouraged to bring out prospective new members.

The new website design is released for board of governer viewing. This opening page will be used to post the most recent news and upcoming releases in 'Blog' style. Please check out the pages (some are still incomplete) and let me know what your comments and complaints.  I plan on releasing a revised and updated version in early November.  Also note that some of the BoG members do no have their contact info filled out, that is because I did not have it. Please forward an email address that you would like used.  The jumps on the right hand side under 'Current' are 50% functioning. I do not have the sheet for the November meeting.
