As the Student Activities Chair for 2010-11, I would like to welcome you to the ASHRAE BC Chapter webpage. Each year, ASHRAE supports local universities and technical colleges in an effort to advance Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) professions. The BC Chapter is sponsor to two local student branches, BCIT and UBC. Both student groups have actively pursued their study of HVAC&R through classroom and extra-curricular activities.For interested students, I strongly recommend attendance at the BC Chapter monthly dinner meetings. It is a great way to connect with industry professionals (read: future employers), in addition to learning about the latest trends and technologies in the HVAC&R industry. Student registration for the dinner meetings is only $10, thanks to a subsidized rate, which includes both the dinner – which is very good I might add – and the featured presentation.

May 2011 - BCIT Student Chapter Turns 25!
This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the BCIT Student Chapter. This is a great achievement and speaks to the great efforts and excellence of all the current and past BCIT students, Faculty Advisors, and BC Student Activities Committee Chairs. At the ASHRAE BC Chapter’s Student Night on May 11, Dr. Joseph Cheung, BCIT Instructor and ASHRAE Faculty Advisor, was presented a plaque for this great achievement. It is our hope to see 25 more great years from the BCIT Student Chapter.
May 2011 - UBC ASHRAE Chapter named Best in Region XI
Congratulations to the UBC ASHRAE Student Chapter for being named as the top ASHRAE Student Chapter in Region XI for the 2009-2010 year. This award is recognition of the hard work and dedication of the students who participated and of Dr. Nima Atabaki, the UBC ASHRAE Faculty Advisor.

Congratulations to Yongliang Zhang on behalf of the entire BC Chapter of ASHRAE! On November 17, Yongliang, a BCIT Mechanical Technology student, received an award for academic achievement. This award is one of two annual awards presented to BCIT students on behalf of the BC Chapter. Kyle Reese, the BC Chapter Student Activities Chair, was on hand to present the award. Congrats Yongliang and best of luck on your future studies.
